'Staging the People' is a conversation between French philosopher Jacques Ranciere and professor Bruno Bosteels. Ranciere's three pivotal texts from the 1970s, 'Proletarian Nights,' 'Staging the People: The Proletarian and His Double' and 'Staging The People: The Intellectual and His People,' deliver striking insight into the constructions of social movements and the representation of their founders in relation to today's worldwide political upheaval. Newly translated and re-published by Verso over the last two years, those early works are at the center of this dialogue.
