Alan Clements, a former Buddhist monk, war
correspondent, author, human rights activist, and revolutionary
monologist brings his critically acclaimed one-man show, "SPIRITUALLY
INCORRECT" to THE BARRYMORE THEATRE FOR ONE SHOW ONLY SATURDAY
NIGHT, APRIL 8th at 8 PM.

Theater critics have hailed Alan Clements' show as "a hilarious and
brilliant deconstruction of contemporary spiritual cows and
geo-political issues," calling Clements' satire "raw," "edgy,"
"existentially cathartic," "revolutionary," "enthralling and
hallucinogenic,"
while describing him as a cross between "Lenny Bruce, Noam Chomsky
and a hyper-spiritual Terrence McKenna."

Clements was the first American to be ordained as a Buddhist monk in
Burma, where he lived in monastic silence for many years, before
disrobing...becoming a spiritual maverick and a human rights activist
engaged in Burma's nonviolent revolution. Prompting a former director
of Amnesty International to call Clements "one of the most important
and compelling voices of our times."

As a former monk in Burma - a country gripped by military
dictatorship - and a journalist in the former-Yugoslavia during the
final year of their conflict, which brought the term "ethnic
cleansing" into living rooms around the world, Clements' material
arises from his deep personal experiences and is delivered in his
trademark style ...
"a revolutionary satirist with comedy that ignites conscience."

The show is a benefit to raise awareness of Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's
incarcerated Nobel laureate, and leader of her country's struggle for
freedom, with whom Clements co-authored the book, The Voice of Hope,
and Instinct for Freedom: A Maverick's Guide to Spiritual Revolution.

Clements has been interviewed on Nightline, CBS News, Talk to
America,
CBC, VOA, BBC, the New York Times, London Times, Time and Newsweek
magazines, Yoga Journal, and scores of other media worldwide.
