Spirit of Pride - Celebrate Gay Pride Week With An Evening of Special Performances June 21, 2010

Celebrate Gay Pride Week in New York City at “Spirit of Pride” – an evening of special performances and guest appearances on Monday, June 21st from 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, located at 1047 Amsterdam Avenue (at 112th Street), Manhattan.

Each year, the Cathedral brings people from the arts, education and government, as well as other advocates in support of the LGBT community, together at the “Spirit of Pride” celebration. This year, the focus of the celebration is theatre.
Among the performers scheduled to appear are Bobby Steggert, Brian Childers, Jeremy Lawrence, Mildred Dred Gerestant and Donnetta Lavinia Grays.
The evening will also feature a panel discussion about the evolution of gay theatre and its emergence on Broadway and Off-Broadway with David and Joe Zellnik (creators of the renowned musical “Yank”), James Morgan (Artistic Director of the York Theatre), Geoffrey Nauffts (author of the Tony Award nominated Best Play “Next Fall”), Jon Marans, Jonathan Silverstein and Stacy Shane (author, director and producer of the celebrated play “The Temperamentals”).
