Spacemen 3's Sonic Boom aka Peter Kember will be touring North America & Canada performing new material as well as classic Spacemen 3 and Spectrum songs.

Starting on the East Coast, Spectrum will kick off their five week stint at Brooklyn’s After the Jump festival as the headline act for the afternoon show on the 25th of August & winding it’s way thru 20 + States

The tour is his first extensive outing for 5 years and serves as a prelude to thing to come as a new EP and Album – as yet unnamed but with the working title, ‘On the Wings of Mercury’ - is due for release at the end of this year and early 2008 respectively.

The ethereal sound of Spectrum is all but impossible to put in to words. Sonic Boom plays with soundscapes and emotions. The performance is intense and sensitive at the same time, as he manipulates his machinery into hypnotic, sensual and stimulating patterns & rhythms.

Known for his penchant for simplicity & minimal/maximal-ism, he once sited ‘three chords good ,two chords better , one chord best’ , and an incredible cavernous sound is created using a compact set-up of guitar , vintage organ & mind melting electronics. He will once again be joined by guitarist and keyboard player, Randall Neiman of cult combo FUXA who has been a SPECTRUM member for some years.

Sonic boom -also known for his highly experimental work as E.A R draws on all of his magical touches to bring together an inspiring and typically individual song based set. .The tour is an accumulation of all his work spanning the last 20 years with many legendary artists including Yo La Tengo , Stereolab , Kevin Shields , Robin Guthrie , Dean Wareham , Jim Dickinson & Gruff Rhys as well as his own bands Spectrum & Spacemen3 – once christened -‘The group that launched a thousand bands’ - Dean & Britta , Hot Chip , Psychic Ills , the Black Angels , the Warlocks , Black Rebel Motorcycle club , theBrian Jones Town Massacre and many others have cited his work as influential and inspirational.

His musical influences range from The Stooges thru to Lee Hazelwood & some including Kraftwerk & Laurie Anderson are featured in the show . fans can also expect to be satiated with a magnificent version of Spectrum’s hypnotic opus ‘The End’ and several other SPECTRUM & SPACEMEN 3 classics.

Sonic boom said “ I’ve been concentrating on studio work & playing in Europe the last few years & it’ll be great to get back to the States for an extended visit . Our music is more rooted in American strains than European ones & it’s always exciting to be immersed in the culture that created it’.

The audience is in for a sonic treat that will leave their ears, minds & bodies wanting more. The tour starts off at After the Jump Festival in Brooklyn on 25th August and will draw to its conclusion at the Wall of Sound Festival in Dallas on 22nd September.
