“Southern Voices”: the Humorous Writings of Southern Women in Performance
Denver - Professional actors perform the humorous writings of Southern women on Aug. 2 and 3 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Denver.
Not all the magnolias in the South are sweet – some are just crazy!
Join us for a collection of funny, touching, and though provoking selections of stories from great Southern women writers: Bailey White, Flannery O’Connor, Gwyn Hyman Rubio, Eudora Welty, Ellen Gilchrist and others.
Tessa Carr and Charlotte D’Armond Talbert, two professional actors and Southern women, engage the audience in an intimate setting where the South in all its glory, zaniness and crazy relatives comes alive! Performed annually in North Carolina for the past 5 years, the show now comes to Denver.
“What a thoroughly engaging performance showcasing the best parts of the South.” Todd Morgan, Lees-McRae Summer Theatre producer
The show provides great readings, unexpected laughter and a sense of pride for the unique nature of the South. Performances are in the Parish Hall at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (1270 Poplar St. and Quebec) on Saturday, August 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, August 3 at 2 p.m.
