Valentines Day Sees Soulful Dating Program Start for Gay Men

16 January 2007 San Francisco, CA: What better way to spend Valentines Day than finding your Valentine. On February 14, a new concept in meeting other gay singles will launch at San Franciscos LGBT Community Center. Called Soulful Dating (www.soulfuldating.us), the program is being launched by the Marin-based Revolutionary Wisdom for gay men in looking for more meaning in their relationships and to find a place to meet others on a similar quest.

Soulful Dating adds an element of substance and spirituality to the speed dating format, says Markus Thorndike, cofounder of Revolutionary Wisdom with partner Christian de la Huerta, QSpirit founder and author of the landmark book Coming Out Spiritually. We are offering an opportunity for gay men to meet each other in a safe, fun environment designed to elicit more profound connections among those seeking relationships that work.

Thorndike and de la Huerta have been business and life partners for the past five years and offer a variety of seminars and retreats across the country. Soulful Dating is part of a triad of events which also includes Soulful Sex, a one-day workshop on bridging the chasm many people experience between their sexuality and spirituality, and Soulful Relationships, a three-day weekend retreat for those interested in learning how to expand their relating skills and to use a relationship intentionally as a vehicle for personal transformation.

Through guided group activities -- including an innovative soulful
cruising process and a speed dating component (where attendees will have the chance to connect in a focused way with 10 or more potential dates) -- event producers promise insights, skills and the opportunity to experience greater enjoyment and satisfaction in relating more intimately with others.

Participants will gain value in their lives, whether or not they get a
date or boyfriend out of it which we certainly hope they will, says de la Huerta. For the last 17 years since I have been involved in healing and personal growth work, this area of personal relationships stands out as the single most common challenge for people. Conscious relationships take a lot of work, presence, and commitment, and they are amazingly effective catalysts for growth.

Soulful Dating is being held at the San Francisco LGBT Community Center,
1800 Market Street, from 7pm 10pm on Wednesday, February 14. The cost is $30 in advance, $40 at the door. Attendees are required to arrive early as doors will close once the opening process begins promptly at 7:15pm. Similar events for lesbians and heterosexuals are planned.
