Urban Bazaar will host "Snacks & Crafts" on Sunday, November 20th. The art show and fundraiser will benefit San Francisco's City Arts and Technology (CAT) High School, and will feature the work of Leilani Banayos and Michael Robins. Both students are currently interning at Urban Bazaar, and will be donating 50% of the proceeds from art sales to their school's art program.

The circumstances leading to the creation of "Snacks & Crafts" are unique. Brandi Chalker, co-owner of Urban Bazaar, states, "at a time when our public education system is facing ever-growing criticism for failing to meet basic standards of achievement, CAT High School is working hard and creatively to ensure that its students are ready for the real word." CAT requires all upper classmen to participate in the Workplace Learning Experience, a semester-long internship program with local businesses. Each student must carry out a project of their choosing that will benefit their host business in some way. Leilani and Michael chose to work at Urban Bazaar in order to gain experience in the local art world, and have organized the art show as their project.

Leilani and Michael will each have a variety of artwork for sale during the event. Leilani is a traditional artist who specializes in cartoon and anime illustrations, and will feature original framed drawings and prints of her work. Michael works in various mediums, from illustration and painting to photography, and will be offering a variety of pieces for sale. Neither student has participated in an art show before, so this will be a new experience to help them in their transition to professional artists- and they are both excited to give back to CAT's art program.

"Snacks & Crafts" will be a great opportunity for art-loving San Franciscans to support burgeoning local artists, find unique holiday gifts, and give back to their community by supporting public school art programs. Free refreshments will be provided at the show.
