“The smartest, funniest pot comedy ever made. Anna Faris gives the most virtuosic performance of impairment since Daniel Day-Lewis in My Left Foot” -Glenn Kenny, Premiere

“Gregg Araki's latest foray into the slacker underbelly of suburban L.A., Smiley Face, has a wonderful performance by Anna Faris and one of the all-time great stoner monologues in movie history.” – Andrew O'Hehir, Salon.com

First Look Studios presents SMILEY FACE a film by Gregg Araki starring Anna Faris (The Scary Movie Series), John Krasinski (“The Office”), Adam Brody (“The OC”) and Danny Masterson (“That 70’s Show”). SMILEY FACE will show the week of November 16-22, at Landmark’s Nuart in Los Angeles.

Jane (Anna Faris) is an unsuccessful slacker actress who’s having a bad day. And it’s getting more outrageous and comically surreal by the minute. Her misadventures begin when she ignores the warning of her psycho roommate (Danny Masterson) and treats herself to a batch of cupcakes made with marijuana. Soon, she is on a pot-fuelled Los Angeles odyssey, trying to repay an unforgiving drug dealer (Adam Brody), attend an audition, and somehow replace the precious cupcakes. Gregg Araki (Mysterious Skin, The Doom Generation) has been called “one of the most distinctive American filmmakers to emerge in the last decade” and SMILEY FACE has screened at some of the world's most prestigious film festivals including Sundance, Cannes (Directors' Fortnight), Toronto and Deauville.
