– Sky View Center, Queens’s newest mall, will host a celebration in honor of the Chinese New Year with the Chinatown Community Young Lions and a special charity raffle with Share Our Strength, a not-for-profit organization fighting childhood hunger. Valerie Toms, founder of the Young Lions, and Jenny Dirksen of Share Our Strength, will kick off the event at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 5, 2011 in the Sky View Center lobby atrium, and invite visitors to view a traditional lion dance performance by the Young Lions, to be followed by the ceremonial blessing of the Sky View Center retailers.

Immediately following the performance, visitors, who have purchased a charity raffle ticket, receive entry and food tickets into a Taste of Sky View Center event. Guests can enjoy a sampling of cuisine from Sky View Center restaurants including Applebee’s Grill & Bar, Five Guys, Golden Jaguar Buffet and local favorites Fay Da Bakery and Quickly Bubble Tea. The winners of the charity raffle will be announced at 2:30 PM on Level B.

Charity raffle tickets can be purchased day of or in advance online at www.shopskyviewcenter.com or via the Sky View Center Facebook fan page at www.facebook.com/skyviewcenter. Each raffle costs $10 and participants have the chance to win great prizes from Sky View Center retailers ranging from digital cameras from Best Buy, to gift certificates from Bed, Bath & Beyond, Five Guys, Marshalls and BJ’s Wholesale Club, to a bike from Target.

All charity raffle proceeds to go to Share Our Strength, dedicated to Ending Childhood Hunger.
