Ilford Photo and Calumet Photographic are sponsoring a landmark black-and-white photography conference at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Ca. March 3-5, 2006.

Silver

ILFORD Photo and Calumet Photographic are jointly sponsoring Silver, an international forum for devotees of traditional black-and-white photography, including a conference, a photo competition and a commemorative book, along with informal discussion gatherings and related events.

The Silver conference will provide an opportunity for dedicated black-and-white photographers and printmakers to listen, learn and be part of an important photographic community event. It will be hosted by the Art Center College of Design (click for map) in Pasadena, CA, and will take place March 3 - 5, 2006. Additional supporters include the Society for Photographic Education, Santa Fe Workshops, Texas Photographic Society and View Camera magazine.

This event will be geared towards photographers and laboratories with a passion for traditional monochrome photography, and will provide the opportunity for delegates to hear a lineup of world-class photographers and lecturers share their expertise and their experiences to inform, amuse and educate.

The featured conference speakers confirmed to date include Keith Carter, George DeWolfe, Jeff Dunas, Les McLean, Alan Ross, John Sexton, and Mary Virginia Swanson - all recognized masters in the field of black-and-white photography - with more speakers to be announced.

The number of attendees will be limited to 350 in order to ensure that everyone who attends will be able to benefit from all of the presentations and gatherings. The Silver Photo Competition will award a first prize of $3,000 plus a Santa Fe Workshop session. Second and third place prizes will be $2000 and $1000 respectively, and 15 honorable mentions will also be awarded.
