It is a shopping extravaganza featuring store specials, live music, dancing, poetry, and games, and also a fundraiser for local social service organizations.
Musical performances will take place in Carl Barron Plaza starting at 4pm. Participating performers include the Cambridge Rindge & Latin School Jazz Ensemble, the Fletcher/Maynard Chorus, the Peabody School Early Birds Chorus, the Baldwin School, Members of the Cambridge Community Chorus, the Revolutionary Snake Ensemble, the Hot Tamale Brass Band, the Delhill group, and many more. In addition, street performers will be entertaining all around Central Square, and many stores will have Live Music!
But there is more to make this event so special. On Dec 12th, businesses from restaurants to retail stores will donate a portion of their proceeds to the following worthy organizations that work to improve the quality of life for so many people in this area:
Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, Cambridge Cares About AIDS, Cambridge Family YMCA, Cambridge YWCA, CASPAR, Child Care Resource Center, Food for Free, Hildebrand Family Self-Help Center, and the Salvation Army
