Shivkumar Sharma has taken the essentially folk instrument of Kashmir – the santoor (a 100 -stringed instrument) – into the world of classical music as a solo instrument, setting the benchmark for all players. Hariprasad Chaurasia is a brilliant flautist, technician, musician and artist, who has thrilled audiences worldwide and is respected by eastern and western musicians alike. They have both played all over the world as soloists, and for the finale of SAMA and for the very first time in the North East they will share the stage of Hall 1 at The Sage Gateshead for what truly will be a soul stirring performance and end to a spectacular festival.
