The "Godfather of Black Theatre", Shelly Garrett, is bringing America's most successful black stage play, 'Beauty Shop 2009,' on tour. The play also features singer-songwriter Johnny Gill as himself. 'Beauty Shop 2009' is a stage play about a local beauty shop that comes under new management by a flamboyantly gay character, Christopher Rich. After purchasing the thriving business, Chris decides to change the name from 'The Pamper Me Beauty Shop' to a more appropriate name; "DIVAS UNLEASHED!" The shop is frequented by an unforgettable cast of characters who engage in daily gossip about a variety of topics the audience can relate to, delivering the script with a healthy dose of comedy. Some of this stage play takes place right out in the audience, as the audience sings along with the amazing vocals, sympathize with the characters, and actually become a part of the show.
