Annual Shearing Festival - May 8th, 2010 (rain date 9th)

The spring shearing festival at Valley Shepherd Creamery... Over 600 wooly girls need their spring clip !
Valley Shepherd, one of the two largest sheep dairies in the U.S. is readiying the annual spring shearing of hundreds of its dairy ewes. A manadory rite of spring with sheep. The ewes will be all wooly and ready for shearing May 8th (rain date May 9th). We will be shearing all day in the main barn! ...and there will be heritage craftspeople demonstrating, musicians, story tellers, pig roast, and more! Since all 600 are pregnant there is a likelyhood that lamb deliveries will occur during the day. --watch newborn lambs arrive! Truly an all family event.

Producing over 20 types of cave aged artsianal cheeses, yogurt and ricotta based pasta, Valley Shepherd cheeses represent the best of New Jersey farming at restaurants and cheese shops nationally and farmer markets at: Union Square, tribecca, Washington heights, Rockefeler Center, 97th st, 77th st, Summit, NJ. Morristown NJ. Bernardsville, NJ, Rutgers Univ, Princeton, Lawrenceville, Tenafly and other locations.

Advanced ticket sale started. Admission is $10 per adult and $5 per child 11 and under (babes in arms are free). Free Parking and free shuttle bus from Long valley Middle school.
