New York Night Train’s weekly rough and ready maximum rock’n’soul get-down featuring North America's most popular rock and soul party DJ, Mr. Jonathan Toubin! Lose it on the dancefloor to Mr. T’s wild bag of rotating 45rpm party favors – raw classic, obscure, and novel punkers, jumpers, and thumpers from all around the world for your dancing pleasure. And you never know who'll drop by - in the past this mighty night has seen guest DJs like David Johansen, Jon Spencer, Kid Congo Powers, Ian Svenonius, Calvin Johnson, etc.

Tonight we’re thrilled to bring James Chance, leader of The Contortions and James White and the Blacks, in as not only our special guest DJ but as a performer. James, one of the most dynamic and important figures in contemporary music, is the father of both the dance punk and no wave music genres – changing the world not only his legendary recordings on seminal LPs like No New York, Buy, and Off-White, but his insane live show that blended sweat-drenched James Brown dance moves, blood-soaked Iggy Pop recklessness, and ethereal Albert Ayler-ish saxophone improvisation – making a career out of dizzying the world with his blurry dance all over the borders black and white and art and trash – it’s now wonder Barak Obama used “Contort Yourself” as his campaign song. Though dental troubles kept Mr. Off-White from blowing his horn last time, now he’s ready to bring all of the same excitement that he used to punch rock and roll in the nose to Home Sweet Home’s DJ booth and dance floor. James turns up sometime after midnight and contorts you 'til the end.

Definitely not to be missed! Fall by next week when Mr T hosts Primo of San Francisco's famed Oldies Night!
