A quick look back on 2011...

* In the spring our Kickstarter campaign was successfully funded thanks to the incredible support of our friends and fans
* Over the summer we holed up at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley to lay it all down
* Fall's been dedicated to putting together the album artwork with the ridiculously talented Nate Reifke

...and now, with winter right around the corner, it's about time we stop imagining this record and make it real.

Buxter Hoot'n
San Francisco, CA based band, Buxter Hoot'n, is beginning its 5th year and releasing its 3rd album in 2011. The band, whose name references a baroque era composer as well as family folklore, has created its finest and most mature album to date. From virtuosic violin and guitar riffs to guttural lyrical poetry in the tradition of Bob Dylan and Townes Van Zandt, Buxter Hoot’n sets itself apart by combining rock & roll musical complexity and intricate harmonies with traditional backporch roots and soul. Living and working together since the creation of the band they have created a cohesive and familial sound you can hear in the music and see on the stage.

Shady Maples
After two years touring the west coast as Owen Roberts and the Doghouse Brewer, Shady Maples has expanded, taken a new name and developed a combustible rock, Americana, and psychedelic sound that is on full display on their debut album, Unfold. Influenced by artists ranging from Wilco to Radiohead, Ben Harper and Manu Chao, their electric, acoustic and lap steel-driven sound and multi-dimensional lyrics do not sit comfortably in any one genre but weaves discretely between the lines.

Spark Box
Two thirds of the supergroup Glittersnatch, Spark Box features the stripped down stylings of Bay Area phenoms Kelly McFarling and Megan Keely. Homegrown and haunting, Kelly McFarling's voice spirals powerfully, and progressively over a bed of oldtimey instrumentation. Megan Keely's debut is an amalgam of soul, jazz, and folk, and evokes a timeless waft of nostalgia while carving a vibrant, fresh new niche for itself. Her music was featured on KFOG's 2011 Local Scene Sampler.
