From Rio to the world, Seu Jorge represents the new sound of Brazil. Tonight he appears on the same outstanding live bill with dj sets and introductions from Radio One’s Gilles Peterson.

Singer, composer and actor Seu Jorge has made the remarkable transition from resident of Rio’s violent favelas to major player in Brazil’s explosive new music scene. His band play intense urban sambas with Jorge’s voice and guitar to the fore, backed by a team of talented percussionists. He is, however, probably best known in the UK for his show-stealing performance in City of God and his extraordinary interpretations of David Bowie songs in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
