Slam Nahuatl, the award-winning slam team that presented last season’s acclaimed monthly “End the Hunger Slam Series” at Gallery5, which raised funds for the Central Virginia Foodbank to feed a local family for an entire year, brings to us this season’s benefit slam and open mic series “The Literacy Poetry”. This season, the open mic will have its own night on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Come and flex your skills on the open mic with live DJ’s in front of our supportive creative community of poets, artists and audience members from across Richmond. This open mic was created to be affordable for all and give newbees the opportunity to get comfortable enough on that mic to compete in the 4th Thursday’s “Literacy Poetry Slam Competition” at Gallery5 that could get you a spot in next year’s National Competition. Come early on both nights to work one-on-one with Richmond’s Nationally-awarded writers and spoken word artists at a free workshop starting at 6PM.
