What's it really like the first year or two of a start-up? How do things like funding, hiring, product development, marketing, sales and operations really work? What are some common mistakes, and what is crucial to get right?

This month we're delighted to have serial entrepreneur John Simpson, CEO, Patra, who co-founded and was CEO of Cyberbills, a start-up that created a breakthrough bill presentment and payment company, and subsequently sold it to Metavante, a financial services software company. John will share his experiences through it all, addressing whatever topics come up.

So bring your questions - here's a chance to ask someone who's been there and back! As usual, we will restrict attendance to the first 25 founders and CEOs that sign up, so sign up fast!

Presenter: John Simpson, CEO, Patra Corporation

John Simpson is currently CEO of Patra Corporation, a company providing services for the insurance industry improving the Certificate of Insurance process.

John Simpson brings over 20 years of software and enterprise application experience to Patra having designed, developed and launched several prominent products and services. Most recently John was the co-founder & CEO of CyberBills, an Internet bill payment and presentment company, which was named by Online Banking Report (February 2004) as one of the top 25 web banking technology innovations of all-time. In 2001, Metavante, a billion dollar subsidiary of M&I Bank, purchased CyberBills and today the CyberBills services are now an integral part of the offerings of Wells Fargo and Chase banks and over 500 other financial institutions.

Prior to CyberBills, John worked as a Product Manager for Healtheon Corporation (now WebMD), and Regional Account Executive for Ceridian (Fortune 500 HR software and payroll services), a Sr. Consultant for AON Consulting, and a Software Manager for Kay Jewelers. John has a BS in Business Administration from the University of Richmond in Virginia.
