Screening: ‘Mo & Me’ - £5
Followed by Q&A with producer Salim Amin
Duration: 95 minutes

An award-winning and deeply personal look by Salim Amin at the remarkable life of his father Mohamed Amin, one of the world’s most famous photojournalists.

No one caught the pain and passion of emergent Africa more incisively than photojournalist Mohamed ‘Mo’ Amin. Making the news as often as he covered it, Mo trained his lens on every aspect of African life, never shying from the tragedy - his coverage of the 1984 Ethiopian famine inspired one of the greatest acts of giving in the 20th Century - and never failing to revel in the success.

In a career spanning more than 30 years, Mo was Africa’s eye on the frontline covering every major event in Africa and beyond - braving 28 days of torture, surviving bombs and bullets, and even the loss of an arm, to emerge as the most decorated news cameraman of his time.

In November 1996, Mo Amin’s extraordinary life was tragically cut short when hijackers took over an Ethiopian airliner, forcing it to crash land in the Indian Ocean, killing 123 passengers and crew. Underpinned by extraordinary images from Mohamed Amin's vast archive, ‘Mo & Me is is a fitting tribute to a man who personified the potent mixture of talent and ambition.
