Say No! to Plastic November 23, 2009

Students and faculty will be bringing plastic bags and water bottles and exchanging them for FREE canvas bags, coupons for water bottles and britas. Grand prizes of 30 reusable water bottles and Britas!

Facts:
- There is a patch of garbage in the Pacific containing 3.5 million tons of trash
- USC students buy 100 million water bottles a year
- Four to five TRILLION plastic bags are manufactured every year
- only 1% of plastic bags are recycled
- Plastic bags are frequently mistaken for food by marine mammals. Thousands of marine mammals die yearly by eating plastic bags
