Speaker Info:
Rich Chien currently serves as Green Building Coordinator with the City and County of San Francisco's Department of the Environment, where he provides outreach, technical assistance, and develops policy initiatives to green the private sector buildings in San Francisco. In his previous role with the City’s municipal green building program, Rich helped to implement its LEED® Silver ordinance by developing green design tools and resources, administering a training program for City design professionals, and providing project support for municipal construction projects. Prior to joining the department, Rich practiced architecture and construction in Bay Area design firms, working on a wide range of project types, including earth building, institutional/campus projects, green master planning, and sustainability consulting. He also previously worked for the City of Hayward Planning Department, participating in community planning projects in redevelopment areas.
Co-founder and General Partner of LORAX Development, Mike Kerwin, CGB (Certified Green Builder) is both a hands-on "Green Builder" and communicator / advocate for the green building movement. A former Packaging Design Engineer and Principal of Spike Design in San Francisco, Mike Kerwin merged his passion for building, clean design, environmentalism and marketing communication skills to raise the bar for green building. His mission is to build environmentally responsible homes with renewable materials, energy efficient systems and smart technologies and to help others learn and succeed in building green.
