Are you interested in learning more about maps, map making, and new community mapping trends? If so, stop by our mapping party! Mapping parties are events where anyone can come and participate in the OpenStreetMap project. OpenStreetMap is a global, open source map that can be contributed, edited and used by anyone anywhere. It could be considered a wikipedia of maps. You can learn more about OpenStreetMap, and the amazing mapping projects being carried out, here: wiki.openstreetmap.org

Mapping parties are social events where experienced and new mappers can meet to share and learn more about the project. The event is open to everyone, from open source enthusiasts, cyclists, GIS professionals, geocachers, and beyond.

GPS units will be available for attendees to use throughout the day. The first hour will be dedicated to introducing OSM and learning how to use the GPS units. The second and third hour will be time for mapping (by foots, car or bike), and the last two hours will be focused on using the OSM editors. Feel free to attend for the entire day (or the whole weekend) or stop by for one of the mini-tutorials.

This event will be on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm.
