SANKOKA takes a choreographic journey through the formative to the flourishing years of one of Toronto’s top dance companies.
Sankofa is a testament to the transcendent power of drums, a mesmerizing union of contemporary dance, polyrhythmic African / Caribbean music and seeks to retain traditions of the drum orally, visually and physically. Connected through time, dancers become communicators of a lasting tradition featuring works by Artistic Director Patrick Parson and Associate Choreographer Gabby Kamino among others.
