200 Eastern Pky
Brooklyn, New York 11238

In this focused selection of thirteen pieces, New York-based artist Sanford Biggers challenges and reinterprets symbols and legacies that inform contemporary America. This installation will feature the recent acquisition 'Blossom, 2007', by New York-based artist Sanford Biggers. 'Blossom' is a multimedia installation composed of a tree that pierces a grand piano, lifting it off the ground as its branches reach toward the ceiling. At intervals the piano plays Biggers's rendition of 'Strange Fruit', a song from the 1930s popularized by the blues singer Billie Holiday that refers to lynching. 'Blossom' will be presented along with several thematically related installations by the artist.
