Sanford Biggers: Codex June 15, 2012

Sanford Biggers, recipient of the Greenfield Prize at the Hermitage Artist Retreat, will unveil his new work at The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. As part of his Constellation Series, these works will consist of quilts that depict "constellations" inspired by Harriet Tubman and other Underground Railroad conductors, whose use of the stars to navigate from slavery to freedom in the 19th century, is a vibrant part of North American history.
