For some of the liveliest and soulful world music in the bay area, The Croatian American Cultural Center hosts its 10th annual TamFest this Presidents Day weekend. Each February the Center presents nationally renowned tamburitza orchestras, featuring the lute-like tamburitza, an instrument played throughout the Balkans

This year's headliner is Tamburaski Orkestar Momci. Also performing are Sidro Tamburitza Orchestra, St Anothony's Tamburica Orchestra, Novi Stari Tamburasi, Dalmacijo Singers, and Slavonian Traveling Band.

Tamburaski Orkestar Momci will play a concert at 2:30PM followed by music for dancing and singing by all the groups in two halls. The Center will be open from 1PM for workshops, food and drink.

This is a premier cultural event in California, with people traveling from all over the west coast to attend the dances, workshops and concerts.
The Center is filled with singing, dancing, exhibits and the music of the tamburitza. For two days the hall reverberates with a rich tapestry of music both traditional and contemporary. The ensembles perform for listening and dancing. Performers and participants enjoy themselves by singing "Becar" tunes until the bar closes late at night. Almost everyone, familiar or not with this music, is moved to dance and sing along.

$15, Children free.
