Further Description: Culann's Hounds and Tom Murphy Presents are joining forces to showcase the most dynamic Irish influenced music on the west coast at the San Francisco Irish Fest, March 14-17, 2008.

SF Irish Fest is a continuation of two years of Saint Patrick's Day celebrations produced by Mike Kelleher and Steve Gardner of The Hounds. Their headlining shows at The Great American Music Hall in 2005 and 2006 were two of the biggest Irish music concerts since the now-defunct Celtic Arts and Music Festival closed its doors at Fort Mason in 2001. Joining them this year is Tom Murphy, who has produced various events (St. Patrick's Day Parade Celebration, Jerry Day, etc.) in and around the city.

The Irish American Whiskey Stomps, the title of the event before changing it to SF Irish Fest, included local traditional Irish all-stars, Quin, LA Irish rockers, The Fenians, and infamous Irishman Kevin Artt singing Ride On to an enthralled house.

This year the festival expands to four nights, culminating in another stomping night at the Great American Music Hall. Additional venues include Slim's, Café du Nord, and The Blackthorn Tavern. The line-up is as diverse as Irish music can be. Zoo Station, San Francisco's much loved U2 tribute band will headline Slim's on Friday March 14th. Irishman Colm O'Riain brings his gypsy influenced band to Café du Nord on Saturday March, 15. Artt's rebel rockers, The Bog Savages, run the show at The Blackthorn Tavern on Sunday March 16th. KFOG artist, Eoin Harrington brings his modern pop sound to the Great American Music Hall in support of Culann's Hounds on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th.

Also included in the festival are local rockers, The Hooks, with their Clash-style originals and hard-hitting Irish ballads and Jerry Hannan, a longtime Bay Area performer who is gaining notoriety from his song Society which Eddie Vedder sings in the current film Into the Wild.
