No prior experience or training required
Taught by: Paco Romane

Behind every great comedic actor is a great comedic writer. Will Ferrell has Adam McKay. Seth Rogen has Judd Apatow. And now the SFCC actors have you! If you're more interested in being the comedy mastermind on the page than on the stage, then you need to register for Sketch Writing I right now! This 5 week class will equip you with all the skills to become a hilarious comedic writer as well as introduce you to the amazing art form that is sketch comedy. Not only will you have a great time and learn a lot but you'll also discover what comedic writers you are most like and how you can utilize your own point of view to get laughs on paper and off. You'll learn a series of comedy writing exercises and techniques that will help you brainstorm sketch ideas within a group as well as by yourself, construct a clear premise, develop a strong and unique point of view, identify possible styles and structures for each sketch, write not only for particular characters but for particular actors, and flesh out multiple drafts of a sketch until it is as ready as it'll ever get for primetime! At the end of the session, SFCC actors will perform the writers' work in an in-class reading that concludes with evaluations for each writer to steer them toward their individual goals.
