For what would you sell your soul? Infinite riches? Power beyond imagining? The love of someone you desire? The acclaimed San Francisco Chamber Orchestra invites you to a special music and dance concert that explores the dark side of human imagination.

In The Devil Made Me Do It! guest artist Joel ben Izzy narrates Igor Stravinskys miniature masterpiece, The Soldiers Tale (LHistoire du Soldat), and the Mark Foehringer Dance Project/SF performs Duettos to a selection of string quartets by Heitor Villa-Lobos, performed live by the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra.

Stravinskys The Soldiers Tale was written in 1918 as a theatrical concert work with a libretto based on a Russian folk tale. Internationally renowned storyteller Joel ben Izzy narrates this parable about a soldier who trades his fiddle to the devil for a book that predicts the future.

Duettos is a contemporary ballet that tells the story of a mentor, his student, and the evolution of their life-long relationship. Choreographed by Mark Foehringer, Duettos is an affectionate, meaningful homage to Foehringers own mentor in Brazil. Duettos was performed at ODC Theater in June 2006 as the home season concert for Mark Foehringer Dance Project/SF. Acclaimed dancers, Brian Fisher (formerly of ODC) and Katherine Wells (currently dancing with Robert Moses Kin) will reprise their starring roles for the performance with SFCO.
