Safety in Numbers is the Portland Women’s Crisis Line’s (PWCL) 7th Annual Gala and Auction to End Domestic and Sexual Violence. PWCL supporters will join together in solidarity for survivors of domestic and sexual violence and celebrate HOPE for a community where every person is afforded a life free of violence.

Safety In Numbers is the largest fundraising effort organized by staff and volunteers of PWCL to raise awareness and operations funding for the 24-hour toll free Crisis Line. “Our goal this year is to spread the word that domestic and sexual violence are at epidemic levels in our community, but that everyone has the ability to make a difference. Safety In Numbers will be a fun and exciting way to support Oregon’s oldest domestic and sexual violence Crisis Line.” Kelsey Pine, Development Assistant

Oregon State Representative Chip Shields, whose legislative support of domestic and sexual violence program funding has been crucial to the continuation of life-saving services at PWCL, is slated to speak at the event. He joins honorary chair County Commissioner Deborah Kafoury in supporting survivors and emphasizing the important work of PWCL during an economic crisis.

Deschutes Brewery and New Deal Vodka will provide complimentary beverages. Auction items include hand-made jewelry, home goods and art from local businesses and artists, gift packages to area restaurants and shops, and travel packages. The fun and lively event will showcase the talents of the Caravan Dance Collective. Emcee Katie O’Grady will join PWCL for this night of fun, and director James Westby will be donating his time and talent by filming the evening.

“Over 8 years ago I made a call to PWCL and that call changed my life … There are numerous people and organizations that helped me along the way, and PWCL was the first to reach out and help me to understand that abuse was a cycle that I could break.” Anonymous Survivor in Portland, Oregon
