Ever heard of a web application launching on a $0 budget? bostonrb.org did.

How can something so beautiful be built for free... and mostly during a few evenings over beers at local Boston hackfests?

From the air-conditioned 3rd floor of the spectacular steel-and-glass Boylston Street Apple Store, Dan Croak of thoughtbot will make a familiar claim:

"High productivity is possible through convention over configuration. Programmer happiness is possible through a beautiful language and a beautiful development environment."

Sounds great, but how? The meat is in the details:

Which testing tools? CSS framework? Exception notification? HTTP clients for third-party web services? Authentication? Background processes? Formbuilders? Ticket tracking system? Hosting company? Text editor?

The Ruby community moves rapidly and rarely speaks in unison. Dan will lay down judgment on these topics with the Boston.rb source code as a case study.

But wait! There's more!

Dan will pull back the curtain on a few Rails 3 conventions you should know about now.
