Romantasy Cabaret 6/13

A Vaudeville Variety Show
Romantasy Cabaret is Phoenix Arizona's premier vaudeville variety showcase. The show debuted in June of 2007 and has enjoyed sold out success since. Presenting a cast of about 30-40 creative types from the Phoenix area and beyond, Romantasy Cabaret puts on a 3 and a half hour showcase of dancing dames, saucy songstresses, low brow comedy, burlesque beauties and even some odd circus feats.

The evening's affair offers ticket prices for all budgets from the $18 standing room only tickets to the Reserved Front Row VIP seats $33, up close n personal! Also offered is a $23 seat with a view- not a bad spot in the place!

The first event of '09 raised its curtains to yet another sold out crowd on February 28 2009 at Club Red at 2155 East University in Tempe. The next soiree kicks up its heels on June 13 2009 and tickets are on sale now.

These shows DO sell out so advance purchase is urged. We will have some general admission or standing room available the night of the show.

Hope to see some new faces at our next show - costumes encouraged!

The show is $18, $23, or $33

BEST OF PHOENIX — NEW TIMES

Best Local Vaudeville Show
Romantasy Cabaret

The day that the eggheads finally invent a time machine can't get here soon enough, because we've got some major plans for that wondrous doohickey. Besides heading back to eighth grade to confront the bully whose daily thrashings stunted our self-confidence to this day, we're warping back to the 1920s to witness a bona fide vaudeville show. We've seen only pictures of the ribald and raucous variety shows that were a mix of comedy, music, dancing, and oddly freakish behavior, so we'd love the experience of seeing performers like Stan Laurel or Ethel Barrymore in their prime.

And until the day we've got our own personal flux capacitors, our butts will be firmly planted in front of the stage whenever the hilarious and hot Lucy Morals presents Romantasy Cabaret.

Every month during the summertime, Morals serves as barker and emcee for the vaudeville-like showcase, which features shenanigans of a sexy, surreal, and side-splitting nature. One eclectic edition (titled "Opulent Dreams") boasted the snake dancing of Mother Fakir, the hilarious acoustic parody songs of Tom Tuerff, the boffo burlesque of Dolly Diamonds, and other outrageousness.

Since 2007, the event’s director Lucy Morals has mixed up an ever-changing concoction of singing, dancing, lowbrow comedy, and freakish feats with her vintage approach to modern variety. The third act of each show features lovely burlesque beauties who bare almost all.

With its Roaring Twenties theme this season, pearls, pretend pistols, and spats will be in abundance. The audience is also encouraged to take part in the show’s atmosphere by dressing up for the evening – either in evening wear or in 1920s style garb. Those who do arrive in costume will receive free raffle tickets for chances to win tickets to future shows.
