Rockfest 2009 August 21, 2009

I believe it was at Guided by Voices' last show in Columbia - at the old Elbow Room in 2001 - where frontman Robert Pollard remarked to the crowd, "Y'all want some rock 'n' roll, aren't ya?" Drunken grammar aside, Mr Pollard put a fine point on it: Columbia, indeed, loves it's rock 'n' roll, and this jam-packed bill offers a wide array of rock acts. Slated to perform : Host To Another; Worth the Fall; Deleveled; Fallen Kings; Modern Disruption; Decadence; Flick It; Examining Emma; Dearanna; and Obraskai, which, you'll remember, garnered the readers' choice for Best New Local Band in last year's Best Of poll, which Deleveled won twice in years past. - P.Wall
