On April 7, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at Revival get your friends together to rock and make a difference for sick children. Rock4theKids is a competition based on the popular Rock Band™ series of games in support of SickKids Foundation.

The glory and adulation of being on stage no longer belongs just to the rock stars of the world. Rock Band virtuosos can come out of their houses and feel what it’s like to hear the roar of the crowd.

Bands of 4 will rock-out against each other for fun, for prizes, and of course, for the kids. The ultimate goal a one-night, one-cause, sold-out show.

Who Can Enter?

Rock4theKids is a charity event, and although there are prizes for the winner, the emphasis is on performance and fun. Bands of any skill level (or mixed skill levels) can compete and are welcome. Costume, performance and attitude is a very important part of our scoring system.

Although Rock Band™ is incredibly popular with kids and young adults, our first event is limited to adults 19 years of age and older, primarily due to our venue. Based on the success of our first event, we expect to have kid-friendly contests in the near future.
How Does it Work?

For a full description of how the event works, please see the Rules page, but here is a quick summary:

15 bands will compete, each playing 1 song from the Rock Band 2™ or Rock Band™ song list. Each band will be judged on a number of criteria -- not just score, but also for performance, attitude and costume.

After round one, the top three bands will compete in a one song playoff. Each band must choose a new song and perform it for our judging panel — and our audience!

Judges will rate each band’s performances based on stage presence, player skill, and audience reaction. Audience members will vote for the team they want to win by text message. It’s not about who hits the most notes — it’s who rocks the house!

How Can I Participate?

Put in a team! If you want to do more, we are looking for in-kind sponsorship for the following:

• Prizes (large and small) for the following categories: Winning band, Best costumes, Most funds raised, Most enthusiastic fan, Best solo, Best drummer, Best vocal
• Audio/Visual Support
• Media Partnerships

Corporate Sponsors will have the opportunity to include promotional materials in gift bags, have logos on the event website, Facebook page and on-site, as well as promotional tables at the event.
