If there’s a lot of half-finished, vaguely unsatisfying music around - songs that say nothing to you about your life - then maybe it’s because the people who make it haven’t lived much of a life themselves. Not so in the case of Vincent, nominee of Best Male Artist at the inaugural Liverpool Music Awards this year, he’s a searingly honest Liverpool singer-songwriter whose mix of folk, rock and country has him described as a Mersey Van Morrison.

Peter Bruntnell completes this perfectly formed double bill. The NME demanded ‘Bruntnell’s records should be taught in schools’, they were referring to the quiet Devonian’s songwriting craft. His 2009 release Peter And The Murder Of Crows, filled with psychedelic drones and mellifluous tunes, was Americana Album Of The Month in MOJO Magazine and one of Q magazine’s Americana Albums Of The Year.
