Roar: Mixed Media Paintings by Gared Luquet May 7, 2010

Gared Luquet is a bay area artist and graduate of Pepperdine University. Luquet is an expressionist painter who creates with intensity. He works in a variety of media including acrylic, plaster, plexiglass, resin, paper, wax, wood and found objects. His paintings undergo an impassioned transformation as he scrapes, rips, blowtorches, splatters, nails and even sews the various materials. Included in the show will be his new series, In the Kutz, which are abstract landscapes inspired by aerial views of cities and suburbs. Luquet's wild energy, sharp sense of design, and unique material choices creates paintings that you just have to see to believe. Join him for the free reception on the first Friday of May.
