Reviled by history, Richard is a lonely man desperate to prove his own worth and willing to do anything to achieve absolute power. Cast aside by his older siblings, chronically unable to relate to the powerful women in his midst, Richard resolves to wrest away his brother's crown by any means necessary. His misdeeds propel him to dizzying heights atop a kingdom "built on brittle glass," but he cannot forever outrun the ghosts of his conscience. The Mobile Shakespeare Unit takes professional Shakespeare for free to prisons, homeless shelters, centers for the elderly, and other community venues throughout the five boroughs before playing at The Public for this very limited run.
