Music Forum (十方樂集) in Taipei will present a piano recital tonight and a trio concert on Sunday. French and English piano music includes many works that are all too rarely played, Tonight, Saunders will present a selection of these unknown gems, including three pieces by Deodat de Severac, once considered equal to his contemporaries Debussy and Ravel. Also played tonight is a fine suite by Ernest Chausson, two folksong-inspired pieces by the English composer E. J. Moeran and an extraordinary piece in Oriental style by Cyril Scott. Tonight’s music may be unfamiliar, but all of it deserves a place in the repertoire of pianists everywhere.
