Paula Findlen is Ubaldo Pierotti Professor of Italian History and Co-Director of the Center for Medieval and Early Modern Studies at Stanford University. Among her more recent works are In the Shadow of Newton: Laura Bassi and Her World (2009), Italy's Eighteenth Century: Gender and Culture in the Age of the Grand Tour (2008), and Athanasius Kircher: The Last Man Who Knew Everything (2003).
