Requiem August 8, 2008

Lemi Ponifasio and his company, MAU, arrive at Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival Requiem, a “journey”, in his words, “of hope and desire for transformation”. This compelling modern dance, inspired by Mozart’s Requiem, brings “a starky modern sensibility to bear on Samoan themes of death and remembrance” (The Guardian (London)). Ponifasio blends music, art, ritual, incantation, and movement to create an atmospheric soundscape where the play of light and dark symbolizes the very nature of transition.

This performance will take place at 7:30PM on Friday August 8th and Saturday August 9th at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater in NY, NY. Tickets cost between $40 and $90 and include individual admission.
