In this documentary, a group of youth from the Innu and Huron-Wendat First Nations of Canada walk and paddle their ancestors' 4,000-year-old trading route towards Quebec City. Directed by Oliver Higgins and Mélanie Carrier, Rencontre (Encounters) received the Golden Palm Award at the Mexico International Film Festival in April 2012. This screening, the D.C. Premiere, is co-hosted by the Embassy of Canada and will be followed by a directors' discussion of the film.

The All Roads Film Project is a National Geographic program dedicated to providing a platform for indigenous and underrepresented minority-culture storytellers around the world to showcase their works to promote knowledge, dialogue, and understanding with a broader, global audience. The 8th Annnual All Roads Film Festival will take place on September 27-30, 2012 at the National Geographic Headquarters, Washington, D.C.
