Refresh is a community of designers and developers working to refresh the creative, technical, and professional culture of New Media endeavors in Bellingham. Promoting design, technology, usability, and standards, Refresh Bellingham is part of the Refreshing Cities movement.

Refresh Bellingham's meeting on Wednesday, December 15th will feature Samantha Starmer. Samantha will be discussing Design for the Space Between. The gap between physical and digital is becoming blurred. I can do yoga with my Wii, order pizza delivery from my iPod touch, or use Skout to virtually flirt with people and then meet them in person at the local bar. As devices integrate with each other and the real world, we must consider these integrations and design for cross-channel and cross-device interactions. We need to design holistic customer experiences that are consistent and engaging across websites, phone, face-to-face service, and physical products. These successful experiences require ‘designing for the space between' – the space between interactions, interfaces, and touchpoints.
