Six participants in Chautauqua's Week Seven will lead Governors Island participants with talks and discussions about what makes spaces sacred, the sacred spaces of the Abrahamic traditions, the communal spaces that define civilizations, and the sacred in the personal that provides peace amid chaos. The afternoon events will be moderated by Chautauqua's Department of Education director Sherra Babcock and Department of Religion director Joan Brown Campbell. For those who attended the week at Chautauqua, this is an opportunity to reflect. For those who didn't, the opportunity is to experience a sampling of Chautauqua - on Governors Island in the New York City harbor.Take a free ferry from Manhattan or Brooklyn, to a free afternoon of intellectual stimulation at St. Cornelius on Governors Island.
