Acclaimed, local ensemble Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company commemorates the Chinese Cultural Revolution in a sweeping, new evening-length work entitled “Red Typhoon” showing April 27 and 28, 2007 at the Cowell Theater in San Francisco’s Fort Mason. With its signature blend of powerful modern dance, ancient Chinese forms and dazzling costumes and props, the company explores the dramatic impact this historic moment had on so many lives including the choreographer’s own.

PLEASE NOTE: Each night from 7-7:30 p.m. the public is invited to a free talk by Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company Music Director Gang Situ on the Cultural Revolution, personal memories, and the symbolism behind the evening’s various cultural references and imagery.
