Dr. J.C. Hayward is one of Washington's most respected and longest-
serving broadcast journalists. As the area's first female news
anchor, J.C. recently celebrated her 36th year on the air, one of only
two female news anchors in the country to reach that milestone.

J.C.'s leadership and commitment to our industry and to our community
exemplify what the AWRT-NCAC Star award is intended to honor. The
Star award, which is an annual award recognizing outstanding women in
our field, focuses on five "points": Excellence; Leadership;
Commitment; Courage; and Mentorship.
