This week, Alex from Tokyo, Ursula 1000 and Nublu Recording Artists, Probus and Justin Carter take over the Water Taxi Beach. The Water Taxi Beach in Long Island City is a beautiful beach (check the photos: www.watertaxibeach.com/photos.html) that’s shuffling distance from PS1’s Warm Up party. So wear the flip-flops you can dance in! There’s also a HUGE tented, wooden floor for dusting it up!

Alex from Tokyo is not necessarily from Tokyo. He does spend a lot of time there, but the truth is he’s French, and he posts up for at least half of the year in New York City. His production and DJing reflect such disparate homelands: His style, rooted in house, swivels from Italo-disco and real-deal electro to raw Detroit techno.

Ursula 1000 is from the US of A. And he lives here, too. But just cause he doesn’t have beds in three ports doesn’t mean his music isn’t other-wordly. In fact, Ursula 1000 is hands down one of the best live DJs out there. His sets are all at once accessible and obscure, full of music that could get the stodgiest record store employee and his grandma on the dance floor at the same time.

Probus and Justin Carter, residents from Nublu start off the evening with sounds from punk funk to techno.
