Real Solutions for Real Problems October 10, 2008

As the Student body President at Trinidad State Jr. College, i am a strong supporter for Barack Obama. Down here there is a lot of confusion about where he stands on issues and there is a lot of ignorant decisions being made about who people are going to vote for. I feel that if we had some clarification on the issues, instead of just seeing the false campiagn adds by the Republican party, we can actually get support by showing people the truth and nothing else. There should be no "trash" talk about the other party, but ways of how we can get stuff done. Barack seems to be a supporter of getting young people involved in politics and i feel that this college is a great example of that because although we are a smaller school in a smaller town, i feel that we should be recognized just as much as a big school because our votes still count for the same as theirs. I would like to see some of the direct politics getting involved with us, because honestly it doesnt happen and i would like to see a change in that. If we could get more support for our party down here, other small towns would see that and it would make a great deal of change. Although the big cities have more numbers and voters, many of them choose not to vote. If we took a small town and got them all to vote, wouldn't it count for the same as half of the big city? We need to stopped being overlooked in the process because we are just as important. Plus the McCain campaign may be taking most of the small town voters because of Gov. Palin because of the fact that she is from a small town and i do not like that because if voters do that they will once again just be voting out of ignorance. We need someone who is popular to help out with this so we can get the numbers that we need. This would just be the first step in my plan of action and I hope that this can actually happen. I am all about talking about things and then puting them to action so we need to get this off the ground, but i cannot do this alone. Thank you for your time and I truly hope that this is taken into consideration.
