"Lord Paul Drayson of Kensington is Minister of State for Science and Innovation at DIUS, the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills. He is responsible for developing and delivering policy that will contribute to world-class research in the UK and the conversion of science into wealth through innovation. His responsibilities include encouraging innovation through government procurement, delivering and developing the recommendations in the Innovation Nation White Paper and Sainsbury Report, enhancing the profile and take-up of STEM subjects and oversight of science and innovation-related bodies including the Technology Strategy Board, British National Space Centre, NESTA and the Energy Technologies Institute.

His career in government follows a sucessful career in business, including being co-founder and Chief Executive of PowderJect Pharmaceuticals plc, an Oxford-based vaccine producer. A self-declared "car nut", he stood down as a Government minister in November 2007 to compete in the American Le Mans Series."
