The late August Wilson completed the stage play 'Radio Golf' only weeks prior to his death in October of 2005. This final work has a singular immediacy and relevance to current events than any other plays of the 20th Century cycle. It is set in 1997 and centers around the character Harmond Wilks and his campaign to be the first black mayor of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The challenges faced by Wilks and the themes present in the play hold compelling parallels to those of Barack Obama. I had the opportunity to attend the opening night and I feel compelled to share this excellent and relevant play with all those who support, god willing, our next President. I hold even the perhaps naive idea that word of this play will reach the ear of Senator Obama himself and that he might have the opportunity to see it personally, it is the last work of a brilliant playwright and illustrates, on a smaller scale, events happening here and now, some three years after it's creation.
